The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and
The Kingston Trio flexi-disc
Capitol / Evatone 8464

This compilation 7" tri-fold card has various LP ads and a photo of The Beatles. Inserted in magazines in 1964, the vinyl-coated middle section includes Roll Over Beethoven (The Beatles), Little Deuce Coupe (The Beach Boys), and The Saints (The Kingston Trio). This very difficult to find disc sells for up to $500 in near mint condition, and a little higher if the center spindle hole has not been punched. It is usually referred to by collectors as "The Kingston Trio flexi".

The same 3 songs were also released in a 5" round version flexi-disc with black vinyl and white print. NM copies of this version are in the $300 range. But of far greater value is the envelope that the latter was issued in. Designed as a mailer-sleeve, size 9-1/2" x 6", it featured black and red lettering along with a black and white photo of each Beatle. On the front it says "A BEATLES RECORD FREE" and on the back "FREE BEATLES RECORD INSIDE". Only one known copy has been documented, making it one of the rarest of all Beatles sleeves.
